Down the road this afternoon.

Linda and I walked down the road this afternoon and really enjoyed the fall foliage. There was a definite chill in the air and some one had a fire in the firepace, or so we thought with the smell of burning wood in the air. The dogs had a blast. They chased each other all up into the woods and across the creek, you could hear them barking and howling from what seemed to be a mile or more away. J.D. would make that strange howling/whine that usually means she has found something alive and has possibly chased it up a tree. She seems to be out in the woods from an impossible distance away. Then suddenly she comes flying past in what seems to be seconds. She then disappears up into the woods on the other side of the road and starts to howl at some thing way up the side of the mountain. Meanwhile Moose is right on her tail and Jesse is watching cautiously from the road with us. Since he got bitten by the Copperhead he seems to be slightly more cautious. I hope he is anyway.

The leaves this year up here at Big Creek seem to be more beautiful than they were even last year. I guess in the years when we have very little rain fall the leaves are even more brilliant. We are still in an extreme drought and it may turn out to be even worse that it was last year. My Koi in the big pond just may not survive this year. It was close last year and I know they have to be under a lot of stress. All we need is rain!
