This afternoon Dave and Lynn came down for a visit and as they were leaving they wanted to go down by the garden and get some fresh lettuce. I of course was tickled because we have so much lettuce that we will never be able to eat even half of it before it bolts or the freeze gets it. After cutting the lettuce Dave said that he would like to try some of the Horseradish I have planted in the garden. I dug him up a pretty good size root and he took it home but I forgot to give him any instructions. He called later and said that they thought they were going to have to call 911 when he grated it because it felt as if some one had thrown mustard gas into their kitchen. I had forgotten how powerful the fumes of the horseradish root are. It has been quite a while since we have processed any for home use. The first time we used it fresh, Linda and I had to run out of the house to get fresh air and it took a while before we could come back in. We learned that lesson pretty quick but obviously I should have remembered and passed it on to Dave and Lynn. Sorry Dave and Lynn.
Take it outside next time Dave!
